The illustrations of female bodies removed by Facebook

Female pleasure is too often seen as a taboo topic. Facebook has a strict adult content policy, which is quick to reject anything that violates the rules around nudity, sexually provocative, and overly suggestive content.

seen as a taboo topic

Facebook has a strict adult content policy, which is quick to reject anything that violates the rules around nudity, sexually provocative, and overly suggestive content. These filters are especially harmful to the sexual wellbeing industry, which works hard to empower women, encouraging them to explore their bodies and tap into their sexuality. Female sexuality has long been regarded as a taboo topic, something that needs to change.

Fem-tech platforms, such as ourselves, have been censored by Facebook’s adult content policies, which has blocked over 60 iterations of our illustrated adverts that invite women to better explore and understand themselves and their bodies.

We are publishing this gallery of some of these rejected ads - and those that were eventually accepted - to draw attention to the censorship of women’s bodies that remains all too prevalent within society.
Rejected due to nudity - low-cut top
Accepted - Alteration to cover cleavage
